Canadian immigration

Canada has been welcoming foreigners on its land for many years now. It encourages skilled people to come and work for them, allows foreign students to study in accredited colleges and universities, and also allows family members to unite in their homeland. Covid 19 pandemic put a temporary shut down on Canada’s immigration programs, however, since conditions are coming back to normal, Canada is planning to increase immigrants to cover up its economic loss caused by the Coronavirus pandemic,

Canada accepts visas for almost every applicant, except for some cases. Canada has a right to reject any applicant on any of the inadmissibility grounds, such as medical reasons, financial reasons, criminal basis, or any other. When you are applying for immigration to Canada, it would be wise to hire help from Canadian immigration lawyers to make your process smooth and flawless. Here are six ways you can seek permanent residence in Canada.

1. Study Permit

Canada encourages foreign students to apply for universities and college degrees. Students can easily apply for permanent residence if they are studying in any of the universities in Canada. Students can enter Canada through a study visa. Later they can apply for a Post-graduation work permit, or express entry to apply for permanent residence. Every year, around 350,000 international students are welcomed by Canada. Most of them can later apply for a work permit and eventually get permanent residence.

2. Work Permit

Post-graduation work permits or work permits based on skilled jobs can allow foreigners to come live in Canada. People living in Canada can apply for permanent residence through Express Entry. To be able to apply for a work visa, a person should know a skill that can contribute to the economy of  Canada, or they should have a technical degree like engineering, Doctor, or a lawyer. A work permit counts towards a basis for permanent residence.

3. Express Entry

Immigrants living and working in Canada as skilled workers can apply for permanent residence. The new system introduced in Canadian immigration policy will assess, recruit, and select immigrants to be granted Canadian citizenship if they fall in any of the categories mentioned below,

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

This is Canada’s one of the most popular programs for immigrants to apply for citizenship.

4. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is also a very popular program to apply for Canadian nationality. This program started by a few of the Canadian provinces like Ontario, British Columbia, and more allows immigrants to get permanent residence. However, this program requires immigrants to live in their respective provinces when they arrive in Canada. They also require a job offer from a Canadian employer to apply for residence under this program.

5. Start-up Visa Program

An entrepreneur can also apply for permanent residence in Canada if they are running a successful business there. Canada encourages immigrant businessmen to become part of Canada’s private sector. They facilitate the businesses to add to the Canadian economy by earning handsome profits. If an investor is investing up to $200,000 into the qualifying business, they can apply for a permanent residence in Canada.

6. Family Sponsorship

Canadian immigration law allows immigrants for family reunification. The families living in Canada can sponsor their relatives for a permanent residence. A person can sponsor his/her spouse and children under the age of 22 years, with a few exceptions. However, the family reunification program does not allow sponsorship to parents and grandparents.
